Ready to spread some holiday cheer on your website? Creating a dedicated Holiday Events Calendar is a fun and festive way to highlight all the seasonal happenings in your community — from tree lightings and parades to concerts and markets. Here’s how to do it in just a few simple steps:
Step 1: Make a Copy of Your Existing Calendar
Start by making a copy of your current calendar. This saves time since all your existing location rules will carry over automatically — no need to recreate them!
Step 2: Add a Holiday Group to Your Query
In your new calendar, add a Group to the query. This is where you’ll build your holiday-specific rules. Select the OR statement, and had as many rules as you'd like. For example, try using:
Tags equals “Christmas”
Tags equals “Hanukkah”
Tags equals “New Year’s Eve”
Tags equals “Holiday Market”
Get creative! Use any tags or keywords that match your community’s festive events. Be sure that the main AND/OR statement of the query (see upper left corner in screenshot below) is set to AND. This ensures Yodel knows to include the first Group of rules AND the second GROUP. If set to OR, you will see holiday events filter in from communities outside of the area you have set. Check out our example query below.
Step 3: Save and Share Your Calendar
Once your holiday rules are set and you’ve got the perfect mix of events showing, hit Save. Then, install the widget code or connect the API or iCal on your website’s holiday or seasonal events page.
✨ Tip: Promote your holiday calendar on social media and newsletters to help your community discover all the festive fun in one place!
