Follow the steps below to create a recurring event correctly. Recurring events can be tricky, so please read each step carefully—especially the sections related to start/end times and recurrence rules.
Step 1: Start a New Event
From the main navigation at the top of the page, select “Add Event.”
Step 2: Choose Who You’re Submitting the Event For
You’ll first be asked to select whether you are submitting the event:
- On behalf of your organization, or
- On behalf of another organization
Make sure this selection is correct before moving forward, as it determines where the event will be associated.
Step 3: Set the Start and End Date/Time (Important!)
Next, select the start date/time and end date/time.
⚠️ Critical for recurring events:
When creating a recurring event, the end date/time must only apply to the first occurrence of the event.
Do not set the end date/time to the last event in the series.
Doing so will cause duplicate events to appear.
✔️ Example:
- A weekly meeting that runs from 9:00–10:00 AM
- Set the end time to 10:00 AM on the first event date only
- The recurring rule will handle the rest
Step 4: Enable the Recurring Event Option
By default, events are set as Single Event.
Select the Recurring Event option to continue.
Step 5: Choose Your Recurrence Rules
You’ll now be prompted to define how the event repeats. Choose one of the following options:
- Daily
- Weekly
- Monthly
- Yearly
Adjust any additional options based on your event needs (for example, specific days of the week for weekly events).
Step 6: Choose When the Recurrence Ends
Next, select when the recurring series should end. Your options are:
- Never (ongoing event)
- On a specific date
- After a certain number of events
Choose the option that best fits your event schedule.
Step 7: Review the Recurring Rule Summary
After selecting Done, the recurrence rule will appear as text directly below the start time.
Take a moment to double-check this summary to confirm it matches what you intended (frequency, duration, and end condition).
This step is key to preventing errors.
Step 8: Complete the Remaining Event Details
Fill out the rest of the event information, including:
- Event title
- Location
- Description
- Image
- Links
- Tags & categories
Be as detailed and accurate as possible—this helps your event display correctly across the platform.
Step 9: Save Your Event
Once all details are complete, select Save.
Step 10: Verify Your Events
Visit your profile to confirm the event (and all recurring instances) were saved correctly.
Check that:
- Dates and times are correct
- No duplicate events appear
- The recurrence pattern matches what you intended
Need Help?
If something doesn’t look right after saving, it’s best to edit or remove the event and recreate it carefully using the steps above—especially double-checking the end date/time and recurrence rules.
